Photography began in 1960 with a present of an Agfa Click I : 120 film camera. I stayed with the 120 format using a MPP Microcord twin lens reflex, lost cycling the Pacific coast north from San Francisco to Seattle in 1977. I replaced it with a Rolleicord IV, and later with a Bronica S2a single lens reflex in the late 80s. All accompanied by successive Weston Master IV light meters.

I used colour slide film, initially with 120 Kodachrome 200, then with Fujichrome Provia 200 and 400X.

Printing was achieved through the use of both Imacon Flextite 343 and Nikon Super Coolscan 8000ED digital film scanners and the capabilities of the Epson Stylus 2100 archive and pigment ink printer.

Much of the detailed photography was taken using the Xenar 75mm lens of the Rolleicord and the Nikkor-P 75mm lens of the Bronica S2a. The broader landscape work and the informal portraiture was largely achieved using the Bronica and the Nikkor-P 200mm lens.
All the photographs since 2024 were taken with an Apple IPhone 8, keeping strictly within the tolerance of its optical rather than interpolated resolutions.
